Ok, so you need to finish your Christmas list.
Sounds funny to say when it is at least a few days after Christmas and likely at least a week or two before you’re finding this article-but it’s true a ton of us are still finishing up our respective Christmas buying.
The reasons are endless of course, but for my wife and I the usual reason is that we aren’t set to see friends or family members until around the New Year. Of course, we live a thousand or so miles from where we grew up, so making it home isn’t quite as easy as it once was.
Finding better gifts for these late gift receivers is usually pretty simple, there are after all killer after Christmas sales at most stores.
One thing we tend to pick up, on the cheap every year is a chocolate gift baskets pack from one of our local retailers.
One of the reasons we like buying chocolate gift baskets after the holiday is pretty simple: they are typically on a super sale! I mean, if a company is involving anything specific for Christmas, they can’t very well sell it for full price once the holiday is gone can they? Yes, some of these retailers are sophisticated enough to transfer these unsold items to their discount stores (like TJ Max, Marshalls or even Home Goods) but others simply need to sell them at whatever discount will make them move.
Another reason we enjoy finding gift baskets for our late arriving friends and family is that we can typically get gifts for those folks who otherwise would not easily fit into our budget. I mean, we would love to find gifts and gift baskets for everyone in December, but that simply isn’t possible at all times.
Lastly, one thing I would like to mention as well, is that we enjoy supporting local business. While it is definitely a good thing to get a great deal, buying local and taking some of that unused inventory it seems like helps do something positive in our community. It isn’t the same as giving a homeless person a meal or anything, but we know from experience that local business is more likely to donate money to schools or otherwise be a good neighbor and citizen in our community when compared with chain stores and chain restaurants with no real local connection.
